week two, day one

I am beginning week two nearly half-way through to the goal of 50,000 words, and I really need to get this story moving along now. There's a fairly major character that I'll have to add in later -- will be really easy to do -- though this character's impact is already being felt throughout the story.
I had a two-day migraine over the weekend, though still managed to do a good bit of writing. I ended up finally taking an excederin with dinner last night, and I am still feeling sick to my stomach from it this morning. Bleh. Not the best way to get started, but what are you going to do? I made a big pot of turkey-bean soup last night, and it's back on the stove this morning, so I'll have a steady supply of hearty food to keep me going today.
I will be posting more chapter drafts, either today or tomorrow. I've got one chapter that I realize needs to be split up -- it's 31 pages, single-spaced, for Pete's sake. There's a clear break, so I'll just separate it out there. Be looking for chapters 7 and 7B in the coming days, as well as chapters 2-4 (all written last week, but not yet posted). I began chapter 8 last night and should be able to finish that off this morning.
My daily word count is not what it was at the beginning of last week, though I've still been holding fairly steady at about 2,500 words per day. We'll see how long I can keep this up.
For other writers out there who are on the Macintosh platform, I've been using an application called CopyWrite for this book project. My first book, 'rhythm,' was written using a combination of Microsoft Word and AppleWorks to not only do the writing but keep track of word counts, character descriptions, what happens in each chapter, etc. I'm really liking CopyWrite, as it has pretty much been "one stop shopping" for all of my novel-writing needs. There are a couple of features I'd like to see added in future releases, but for now, I'm quite happy with it.
Though I've still not gotten dressed -- I am sitting here in my "dog-walking clothes" (sweats) -- I figured it's time to get started. I'll knock out a thousand words or so, and then see about making myself more presentable to the world.
Alright. Time to get back to it.
